DR STEPHEN BASSETT
I am a front-line doctor with 20 years experience in medicine.
I graduated from UWCM in 1992 with an additional First Class Honours degree in pharmacology, specialising in hormonal and neuropharmacology.
I was an emergency physician at Swansea NHS Trust until 1996, and until 2003 a partner and GP Trainer at the Sketty and Killay Medical Partnership, the largest medical practice in Wales. During my partnership, I led on prescribing, Chaired the Swansea Bay Consortium, and set up a busy acupuncture clinic, successfully treating hundreds of patients.
In order to pursue legal and ethical studies, in 2004 I took the lawyers’ Common Professional Exam with Distinction and the Hammicks Prize for Best Student, and was called to the Bar in 2005 at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.
I provide emergency medical care to the people of Swansea at Swansea OOH Service, where I have been Chairman of Council since our establishment. I am a member of the Local Medical Committee and an Appraiser of GPs in Wales.
I have integrated my medical and legal skills in the field of mediation, and am currently an accredited mediator with the UK’s largest mediation provider, the ADR Group, and also a member of the Family Mediator’s Association.
I have always sought and achieved the highest standards, and am currently researching medical professional regulation for Huddersfield Business School, and advising the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the International Mediation Institute on professional standards for mediators.
I bring this passion for quality to my cosmetic practice, and have trained to advanced level with the best.
I created ShapeCYMRU to bring the highest standards in to a non-medical environment, and am particularly proud to be associated with the professionalism of Mr Paul Jackson, Mr Chris Berry and their team at the Hair Business.
I want to create a welcoming atmosphere, outside of the crumbling NHS, where integrity, intelligence and imagination can flourish.
