DR STEPHEN BASSETT

I am a front-line doctor with 20 years experience in medicine.

I graduated from UWCM in 1992 with an additional First Class Honours degree in pharmacology, specialising in the hormonal pharmacology of skin pigments.

I was an emergency physician at Swansea NHS Trust until 1996, and until 2003 a partner and GP Trainer at the Sketty and Killay Medical Partnership, the largest medical practice in Wales. During my partnership, I led on prescribing, Chaired the Swansea Bay Consortium, and set up a busy and succesful acupuncture clinic.

In order to pursue legal and ethical studies, in 2004 I took the lawyers’ Common Professional Exam with Distinction and the Hammicks Prize for Best Student, and was called to the Bar in 2005 at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn.

I have integrated my medical and legal skills in the field of mediation, and am currently an accredited mediator with the UK’s largest mediation provider, the ADR Group, and also a  past member of the Family Mediator’s Association. I am a freelance legal tutor, and have taught at the University of Swansea.

I bring this passion for quality to my cosmetic practice, and have trained to advanced level with the best - Dr Jean Carruthers, the discoverer of Botox, for example.

I am on the editorial board of, and write regularly for the leading  cosmetic medicine, Bodylanguage,

I am the medical director of the Aesthetic Training Academy, where I teach basic and advanced botox, filler and peel skills to  doctors, dentists and nurses.

I also act as a consultant for cosmetic technology brand-leaders, and have lectured internationally on eMatrix and Velashape.

I created ShapeCYMRU to bring the highest professional standards in to a relaxed, non-medical environment, and am particularly proud to be associated with the professionalism and imagination of Mr Hywel Jenkins and the team at the Lazy Frog Flotation Centre - another first for Wales.

I want to create a welcoming atmosphere where integrity, intelligence and imagination can flourish.
